Nearly 200 judges from both U.S. and Canadian Kennel Clubs rated the intelligence of certain dog breeds based on how they mastered learning a new command. It took 80 repetitions (or more) for these breeds. If your dog is on the list, don’t fret…they’re still lovable. Besides, your dog is always the smartest - no matter what anybody says:

3. Bulldog
4. Chow Chow
5. Bloodhound
6. Borzoi (Russian Wolfhound)
7. Pekingese
8. Beagle
9. Mastiff
10. Basset Hound

Elwood, a 2-year-old Chinese Crested and Chihuahua mix, was crowned the World’s Ugliest Dog. Elwood, dark colored and hairless , except for a mohawk hairdoo, is often referred to as “Yoda,” or “ET,” because he resembles them. Most of the other competing dogs were also Chinese Crested, a breed that features a mohawk, bug eyes and a long, wagging tongue.

The 18th annual World’s Ugliest Dog Contest has kicked off in Sonoma, California. The voting for the ugliest dog is being conducted online, through the website for the Sonoma-Marin Fair. There are 18 contestants and the pageant will be televised on Animal Planet.

It looks like one year old Dancer the (long-haired) Chihuahua may not be the world’s smallest dog after all, and may have been knocked out of the running for the title of the “Guiness Book of World Records” world’s smallest dog. Another tiny 3 year old (short-haired) Chihuahua named “Ducky” has entered the race and might be smaller than Dancer who stands only 5″ tall. Ducky is said to be .1″ shorter than Dancer. Ouch! All that attention Dancer was getting has now shifted to Ducky. :’(

The world’s smallest dog according to the Guiness Book of World Records is the tiny Chihuahua, Dancer who stands a full 5 inches. The last record holder was 5.4 inches.

A new dog has entered the race for the Guiness’ Book of World Records “tiniest dog” distinction. Dancer, the 4″ Chihuahua has a challenger in another Chihuahua named Chiqulla. She’s 3 1/2 inches tall, but she’s still a puppy. She’ll have to wait until December, when she turns one to see if she’s still in the running.
Is your dog the smartest dog on the planet? Of course it is! Now’s your chance to show everybody. Walt Disney Pictures is holding a contest for the “Underdog Super Pet Contest.” Submit a video or photo of your dog doing something smart, doing a great trick or just showing off his super powers. The video or photo may show up in Disney’s movie “Underdog” in theaters this summer, Aug. 3, 2007. Hurry, time is limited. Contest ends June 1.
