A yellow Labrador Retriever in Austria named Bingo ended up getting drunk not on alcohol, but on bread!
Bingo’s owner wondered why his dog was staggering & barely able to stay on its feet. He checked his liquor cabinet & nothing was missing. So he took Bingo to the veterinarian who found he had a blood-alcohol level of 1.6 per mille which, if he weren’t a dog, would have also put him well past Austria’s legal driving limit of 0.5 per mille.
Turns out Bingo ate a half a kilo (1 lb.) of freshly prepared bread dough while it was sitting out to rise.
The yeast in the bread actually fermented in Bingo’s stomach causing the dog to get drunk.

Leona Helmsley’s dog Trouble is now in hiding due to kidnapping & extortion threats as a result of the $12 million inheritance left to her.
The threats forced concerned friends to whisk her away on a private jet under a new identity and take her into hiding. Her location is a closely guarded secret but she is reportedly living somewhere in Florida under 24-hour guard.

It’s no surprise that when hotel magnate Leona Helmsley died last August & left $12 million to her Maltese dog, that her dog Trouble might be a target of lunatics. The dog has received 20-30 death & kidnapping threats. Primarily from people who hated Leona Helmsley (dubbed the Queen of Mean) &/or are hoping to cash in on some of the loot the dog inherited.

A Baltimore, MD dog groomer claims she “snapped” & severely injured Rajah the miniature poodle she was grooming. Rajah ended up dying from his injuries. And this isn’t the first dog she has injured.
The groomer had surgery in 2004 for a cerebral hemorrhage, suffers from occasional seizures and was also diagnosed with a panic disorder. What that has to do with “snapping” on a dog is beyond me. Of course, the judge has required her to give up her grooming license.

In France, a dog groomer has come up with a new way of washing dogs. It’s a dog washing machine! The dog is put into the machine & it is washed and dried in just 4 minutes. It seems like it may be a little scary to me…but then again, it’s sort of like a shower.

A woman in the Phillipines cooked her pet dog and served it to her dinner guests. Only after 30 of the guests complained of severe stomach pains and weakness about an hour later did the “hostess” reveal that the dog had gone rabid and had been killed. So the local butcher (I mean hostess) decided to cook her dog and feast on it.
So not only did her guests eat rabid dog, but they also may be getting painful rabies shots. The health officials are not sure that rabies can in fact be contracted by just eating the meat - usually it’s from eating the brain of the infected animal. However it can also be transmitted through scratches, abrasions, open wounds or mucous membranes. The local health office was still waiting for the results of laboratory tests conducted on patients.
People will think twice about eating at her house again!

Ethiopia is about to have their third milleninnium celebration on Sept. 12 with a huge concert expected to draw hundreds of thousands of partygoers.
Since attention will be focused on the country, it is doing many things to spruce up its image - including banning begging (there are over 90,000 beggars) and poisoning any stray dogs (Ethiopia is another country that has a stray dog problem).
PETA has volunteered to assist in “humane euthanasia” instead of the planned lacing of meat with strychnine - a powerful poison that causes pain and convulsions before death by asphyxiation.

A Gig Harbor, WA woman who faced up to 90 days in jail for registering her dog to vote has agreed to a deal that could remove the charge from her record.
Jane Balogh, 66, won’t be prosecuted on the charge of making a false or misleading statement to a public servant if she does 10 hours of community service, pays a $250 fine and avoids violating the law for the next year.
Balogh registered her Australian shepherd-terrier mix, Duncan M. McDonald, to vote in April 2006 by putting her telephone bill in the dog’s name and using that as identification when she mailed the form to election officials. She said she did it to protest a change in the law that she believed made it too easy for noncitizens to vote.
In November she wrote “VOID” across the first ballot sent to the dog and returned it with an image of a paw print on the signature line. An election official called and she admitted what she had done, but the dog still was sent absentee ballots for school bond elections in February and May.
Duncan M. McDonald was removed from the voter rolls in July, three weeks after the charge was filed against Balogh, who pleaded not guilty.

Leona Helmsley’s former housekeeper is suing Leona’s Maltese dog, Trouble. Trouble was known to bite people and the housekeeper had been bitten numerous times. What would you expect from the “Queen of Mean’s” dog? The housekeeper tried suing when she was bitten and failed. So she is once again suing the dog.
Trouble may be in more trouble. Helmsley left her beloved pet to her brother, who it turns out doesn’t want her. So Trouble needs a new home. Ya see, even having money doesn’t buy happiness!

Former billionaire hotel heiress Leona Helmsley who died this month left her Maltese, named Trouble $12 million to continue to live the life of luxury.
Helmsley’s relatives didn’t fare so well in the bequeath department. Leona’s brother gets to care for the dog, and 2 of her grandchildren will receive nothing - “for reasons known to them.”
