Coyote attacks are on the rise from California to Florida. Coyotes have been sighted near wooded areas all across the country in their search for food. Unfortunately those same areas are inhabited by people.
There have been attacks on small dogs and in California, even attacks on small children. The coyotes are getting bolder the hungrier they get. A coyote hid in the bushes at a park & as soon as the nanny got far enough away, grabbed the small child by the head and proceeded to drag it away before it got into a tug of war with the nanny. Another coyote stalked a child playing in his yard & came into it’s yard when the parent went inside briefly to grab the phone. Maybe that’s where “Wiley Coyote” from Road Runner cartoon fame got the name.
It is advised that you stay close to your child at all times and carry your small dog when walking on trails.
