It seems that humans aren’t the only victims of the subprime mortgage crisis. Not only are many people losing their homes to foreclosure, but dogs and cats are also unfortunate victims.
When people have to move from their homes into smaller apartments, many apartment complexes do not take pets (or limit the size of a pet). So the family pet has to go. And they are being turned into animal shelters in record numbers.
Dogs who’ve been loving family pets, many times become traumatized by being dumped at the animal shelter and turn aggressive. That newfound aggression makes them difficult to adopt out and they are more likely to end up being euthanised.
The subprime mortgage debacle has many victims.
