Nothing aggravates me more than irresponsible dog owners! I could rant on that all day! I’m especially annoyed with people who walk their big macho “ego” dogs without proper restraints and fail to stop them when they attack other dogs and people.
Well, there is a bill before legislators in Austin, Texas that would severely penalize dog owners whose dogs viciously attack humans. It would be a third degree felony punishable by two to 10 years in prison, and an optional $10,000 fine. The owner could get up to 20 years in prison if the victim dies.
It takes a tragedy for people to wake up. This bill came about after a 76 year old woman was attacked and killed by her neighbors six dogs. And he was found not guilty of criminally negligent homicide in the November 2005 death.
I feel a very strong penalty should be levied when those dogs attack other dogs as well. My best friends little Corgie girl was attacked by a huge Saint Bernard mix. Long story short, my friends dog barely survived, had over 100 stitches, had complications from the attack for several months…not to mention the $4,000 emergency vet bill!
Maybe if there were major penalties for being an irresponsible dog owner, fewer dogs would end up being owned by idiots!
